DIRECTOR UPDATE
JULY 2003 THROUGH AUGUST 1, 2004
Immediate Past Director, Dr. Barbara E.M. Cannon

Planning, development, and implementation processes for the future of the CONSORTIUM OF DOCTORS, LTD. started following the 2003 Annual Meeting in San Francisco, California. Assessments and evaluations of the 2003 Annual Meeting gathered from the Executive Leadership Team, the San Francisco Local Planning Committee, volunteers, and experts who assisted.

Dr. Joyce Moore-Stovall, COD Class of 1993, medical doctor of Leavenworth, Kansas, followed up funding options to retire the Consortium of Doctors, Ltd. portion of the African American Family Monument debt. Dr. Moore-Stovall found that additional funds were NOT available to assist the Consortium at this time. Her perseverance, on behalf of COD, over several years, with many funding sources, is much appreciated and acknowledged. THANK YOU, DR. MOORE-STOVALL.

The newly formed FUND DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE began work immediately following the 2003 Annual Meeting. Chaired by Dr. Rosemary S. Darden, Class of 2002, the committee members are: Dr. Carole Ward Allen, Class of 2003, Dr. Evelyn Wesley, Class of 2003, Dr. Frances L. Ford McCullough, Class of 2000, Dr. Dorythea Cooley Williams, Class of 1994.

COD AFRICAN AMERICAN HISTORICAL CONNECTIONS TASK FORCE
Co-Chairs: Dr. Carolyn Dorsey, Class of 1993, African American Studies Professor, and resident of Trotwood, Ohio, and Dr. Delo Washington, African American Studies Professor of Beaufort, South Carolina. This Task Force came into being based on informal exchanges of ideas regarding possibilities, bridges and connections with past, present, and future parts of our individual and collective histories as African Americans in America and the world. It became apparent that there are good ideas and possibilities to make historical connections with the Consortium, its vision, mission, and purpose in each place where COD meets each year.

ADVISORY COUNCIL FOR THE CONSORTIUM OF DOCTORS, LTD.
This group was appointed by the Director as a resource providing objectivity, insight, wisdom and support insuring that decisions are made with clarity, respect, and integrity.
